What is going on with this June weather in Kansas City? It’s usually August before this type of heat and humidity reach us! It makes me want to pack up the family and find some fresh (hopefully breezy) air at the nearest lakeside abode. However, with a newborn at home it seems that dream will have to wait a bit. In the meantime, since I can’t be submersed in a cooling lake, I am submersing myself in beautiful lake décor!
If you have been following along with me you know that while I have many favorite color combinations, red, white and blue is right near the top year-round! That is one reason I get so excited during the summer months when it come to the forefront of the shop. While in the other months I try to stay away from making this combination scream USA, these are the months where it is easier than ever to bring out a bit of patriotic prettiness to existing home designs – even those who don’t share my obsession with decorating with these hues.
We have had so many beautiful tabletop looks in the shop so far this season, I have been truly in awe of our visual teams’ creations. This is the perfect time of year to let your settings speak for themselves in a way. During the holiday seasons we get caught up in the glitz and glam, however spring and summer are times when simplicity shines and textiles and texture can take centerstage.
Happy February! This year is already going by so fast; I find it is important to slow down and celebrate the little moments when I can. One such moment is upon us – Galentine’s Day! No, I don’t mean Valentine’s Day, although that too is quickly approaching (that reminder is for you, sweet husband). Galentine’s Day, for those of you who haven’t seen Parks and Recreation, is a day meant for women to celebrate their female friendships. Love comes in all forms, and the love shared by gal pals is special in its own right! This year I decided to celebrate before the traditional day of February 13th and gathered some of my nearest and dearest friends for a small but festive luncheon full of big laughs, great food, and of course plenty of Galentine’s décor.
Despite the 10-degree chill outside these past few days, it is full spring ahead in the décor world! It is always a strange time to walk out of the ice into a warm and colorful shop. This in between time can also pose some decorating challenges. What is a home to do when it feels to early for full floral, but you don’t want to live in a winter wasteland for another month? This isn’t a one size fits all answer, but this year I am doing what I love to do year-round – bringing out the veggies!
I feel like I’ve been working towards this holiday season for ages now (truly – planning for the Christmas season begins in January in the world of retail) and it is finally all about to happen! As part of my last steps of preparation, I’ve got my wrapping station going full force, my Christmas grocery list completed and now it is time to break out the holiday table setup!
One of the many wonderful things about Christmas décor is that there are so many different looks with which to express yourself. Whether you love the traditional punchy vibrancy of a kitschy cute look or are looking for something a bit more refined, there is always a holiday collection perfect for building your dream collection.
Bunnies and tulips and colorful eggs, oh my! With Easter only weeks away (how?!) my mind turns to my wonderful family memories of this time of year – gathering around the dining table to dye eggs, scavenger hunts to find baskets filled with sweets, and heading to church with extended family on Easter morning are among my favorites. Of course, I love to dress the table up for any occasion, and Easter is no different. I’m finding myself having even more fun with it these days, incorporating little things my little guy might enjoy and it’s especially easy at Easter time (who doesn’t love cheerful colors and playful bunnies?)!
On the menu today is beautiful and bright tabletops sure to bring a sunny smile to your face! I don’t know about you, but I have been STARVING for new tabletop goodies to play with and I am so happy that it is finally that time of year! Although it hasn’t been feeling like Spring these last few weeks, it is on its way. Easter is only a little over a month away! While February always feels like the longest month of the year, it will be over before we know it. This doesn’t allow much prep time for a new season, so I love to get a head start on bringing new displays to our dining areas. There are a few easy additions to freshening up your tables this month and start spring off on the right foot!
