As I was lounging around my home the other day (I use the word lounging very loosely as I am on maternity leave and completely at the beck and call of my new little family member), I found my mind wandering. A wandering mind is not out of the norm for me with my new mommy brain in full force, however this time I found myself getting fixated on my many throw pillows throughout the house.
When it comes to pillows, I can never get enough! Much to my husbands’ displeasure (he secretly loves them I know it!) you can find textiles of all shapes and colors in almost every room in my home. One of the details that gives a pillow its unique and tailored appearance is the trim. There are many kinds of trim and techniques so it can be hard to know what you want when it comes to fitting your pillows into your home aesthetic and design – it’s different trims for different whims! To get started into the world of trimmings, I’ve collected a few of my favorite edgings that I mix and match throughout my home to share with you!
A new year is upon us and that means that the fabulous new fabrics we handpicked at market are finally arriving! With new textiles comes fresh bedding, upholstery, and so many exciting pillows that I feel like a kid in a candy store (or more accurately an accent pillow obsessed person in a home décor shop). I am always switching out my throw pillows in my living spaces and adding so many to my bedroom I am surprised my husband can still make his way under the sheets each night. As cold weather approaches (and then leaves again and comes back…thanks Midwest!) it is really getting me excited about the upcoming season, and I don’t mean the holiday season! Sure, this time of year, it is most common to be fantasizing of dancing gumdrops, snow-covered trees and the cheery old man in red coming to leave presents, but I’m dreaming of – you guessed it – PLAID. Yes, it is finally what I like to refer to as “plaid season”!
